About Me!

Hi! My name is Kristen. I'm a 28 year old native to North Carolina, and I love my quiet yet busy life here in the south. I am an administrative assistant by day, a vocalist at night, and jewelry artist in between! 

My journey with jewelry making started 16 years ago, right as I was heading into my teenage years. I was at my local library for a summer reading program, and I happened to spot a book about jewelry making and was intrigued. I checked it out, had my mom take me to a craft supply store for supplies, made my first piece - and the passion began. I wanted to spend all of my time designing and creating, and thanks to being homeschooled, I was able to do just that. 

I set aside the tools for a few years to pursue my college degree, step into the work force, and participate in musical theatre. And while I loved that time in my life, I always felt something was missing, like a nagging at the back of my head to pick up my beads and get back to creating. So, in 2018 I named my business "Shine Design by Kristen" and found some minor success from friends who placed a few custom orders. That success didn't last long, as I lost the drive due to almost zero traffic to my Etsy and no way to really get myself out into the public.

Now, after a ton of encouragement from friends to revamp last year, and finding the success I needed to refuel my drive to create, I have finally found my "niche" in working with crystals and more intricate wire working! I am so excited to bring wearable art to those that want something special!
